How We Work
We draw from a large pool of talented students from a range of courses in the Department of Computer Science and Creative Technologies. Students are specialising in computer science / computing, business IT, digital media, networks & embedded systems and cybersecurity. We employ students on short contracts to work on projects, with some academic support and mentoring. Our philosophy is to recruit based on potential, drive, enthusiasm and willingness to learn, not necessarily expertise or extensive prior experience with a particular technology.
We value collaboration and knowledge transfer, so will value a client's time and student interaction with a client's technical staff. In terms of funding, as a rough guide we will be happy to discuss inputs from a four or five hundred to a few thousand pounds, beyond which alternative university contracting / collaboration approaches might become more appropriate.
The kind of project that can work well includes:
- Analysis, UX, prototypes and research / development projects;
- Proof of concept and early stage startup ideas;
- Small, well-scoped web/CMS, app projects or system components;
- Microsites to support research or creative initiatives.
